New STORE STORE shop launch and launch of January After School Club: Hands-On VR, 31st of January, 7-11pm
Join STORE STORE for a drink to celebrate the opening of the new STORE STORE on Lower Stable Street and come and see their recent students’ work on VR and AR; creating virtual environments and experiences, linking the physical with the digital.
The students’ digital designs will be reproduced using plaster moulds, allowing for a series of porcelain ceramic vases which will be on display and sold in Store Store throughout February with royalties going to the students. This month’s After School Club is run by Architects Alex Anderson and Paula Strunden.
Mixed Reality Workshop, Saturday 2 February, 2-6pm
Come and create your own digital piece of art with a STORE STORE workshop that will introduce you to the world of Augmented Reality. You’ll be shown how to intuitively create a digital three-dimensional painting and overlay it with your real-world environment. Each participant will build its own picture frame and paint an ‘invisible’ digital artwork for it – to take home and share online. No previous experience needed.
The workshop will be run by Alex Anderson and Paula Strunden, who are immersive designers with an architectural background. Their work, ranging from 360 film-making to location-based VR, is continuously exploring the imaginary potential of spatial design at the intersection of Virtual Reality and Craft. Together, they’re teaching various VR & AR workshops at local high schools and the Bartlett Summer School Programme at UCL.
The workshop is open to a maximum of 10 participants (age 14+) on a first come, first served basis. Attendance at the workshop costs £30 (£20 students) with all proceeds supporting the SCHOOL SCHOOL after school club for the local state school students.
