LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL – STORE STORE PRESENTS MAKERS MANUALS
STORE STORE was founded to help introduce new talent to the creative and design industries. From its space in Coal Drops Yard, it provides afterschool clubs for local State School students, as well as evening and weekend courses open to the general public. From the same space, it also sells products designed and made at its afterschool clubs, providing a platform for young people to develop their ideas and creativity.
The Makers Manual project was concepted in the early days of lockdown as a way to continue to facilitate the exploration of creativity and learning direct from industry experts that STORE projects provides.
From April to September STORE STORE commissioned 20 exciting designers to create an ongoing series of downloadable manuals for objects to be made at home. The manuals were free to download digitally for all.
Projects included: Tie Dye socks by Lauren MacDonald, Sugar Shapes by Marco Campardo, Vegetable Lathe by Theo Tan, Ice Lolly Bags by Tessa Gueze, Bird Feeders by The Bakerloos and Mini Brushes by Liang-Jung Chen.
For the London Design Festival STORE STORE will present this body of work in the form of an exhibition in the shop and a beautifully bound limited printed edition book that will include all 20 manuals, as well as selection imagery from participants during that time.
To celebrate the LDF STORE will launch a new Makers Manual each day of the festival
