Hato Store is a concept and lifestyle store based in Coal Drops Yard from the people behind the design studio Hato and printing press Hato Press, focussing on graphic design, education, Japanese craft, food, community and art. Founded on the principles of play as a medium of design, the store brings together the elements that form the Hato DNA, specialising in printed products from stationery to zines, artists books and editioned prints.
The studio’s close relationship with food is explored through various Hato Press published books such as Cooking with Scorsese and Studio Cookbook and lifestyle objects inspired by their everyday studio life. Hato’s Japanese heritage plays a large role in the sourcing and quality found in the products and books stocked, working with makers from Yoko Yamono to Chie Chihiro to produce exclusive glassware and ceramics.
The store is also a space for the HSS (Hato Student Society) and existing Hato Press customers to come and book printing consultations, explore the world of Riso printing and buy printing packages and workshop tickets.
