Cissy Wears is a new kind of concept store, with kids at its heart, and good design for the modern family firmly in mind.
Owner and founder Nicola Eyre took time out to give us an insight into the Cissy Wears ethos, and her thoughts on life at Coal Drops Yard.
What can people expect from your store?
Cissy Wears is a haven of design-led products for the modern family; a place for people who don’t want to compromise on their taste just because they’ve had kids. But… it’s not just for kids! We’ve got a range of gorgeous homewares, accessories, fragrances and artisan chocolate. We sell goods across a broad range of prices from a £1 pin badge to a gorgeous £245 throw from Slowdown Studio.
What can people find at Cissy Wears that they can’t find anywhere else?
We pride ourselves on being innovative and are often the first to discover new products and brands. It’s a carefully curated edit of the some of the most beautiful and sustainable brands from around the world including Saga Copenhagen, Heimess, Neu Oils and many more, all put together in a perfect mix of muted tones and brilliant design.
What inspired you to start the shop?
I was offered a position with a large online children’s retailer after an unexpected change in career, but it sadly fell through. By that time, with two kids of my own for whom I struggled to find things I loved, I was hooked on children’s fashion and decided to start up on my own.
Describe the Cissy Wears ethos.
We know that you have to buy a lot of things for growing kids, so we try to keep everything as sustainable as possible and care for the planet your little one is growing up in. Our new bioplastic range is made from 100% renewable plant-based materials and is completely recyclable.
